Pompey took the lead after 18 minutes at Fratton Park when Cherries keeper Jalal let Izale McLeod's tame, long-range effort squirm through his legs, but Bournemouth bounced back after the break and Lee Barnard headed them level from Simon Francis's cross after 78 minutes.

Groves said: "If you make a mistake as an outfield player, maybe someone could get you out of trouble, maybe you can get yourself out of trouble.

"With the goalkeeper, it's slightly different. He knows all about it and I don't think he'll worry.

"It was a good save he made at the start of the second half because it was an important time. I think he redeemed himself there.
