Defending champion Italy looks to be heading out of the World Cup after slipping 2-0 behind to Slovakia with 15 minutes left in the teams' final Group F match.

Slovakia forward Robert Vittek put his team ahead with a low shot in the 25th and got his second goal in the 73rd with a close-range finish from a right-wing cross.

Italy will go home if it loses. Slovakia must win to have a chance of advancing.

Italy coach Marcello Lippi has made all three substitutions to leave playmaker Andrea Pirlo feeding a four-man attack. Fabio Quagliarella had a 67th-minute shot blocked on the line by defender Martin Skrtel, while Vincenzo Iaquinta and Antonio Di Natale have missed good chances.
