Inter Milan defender Christian Chivu has been fined €8,000 ($11,000) for directing insulting gestures at AS Roma fans after last season's Italian Cup final.

The Italian Football Federation's disciplinary committee also fined Inter the same amount.

According to a federation inquiry, Chivu violated "principles of decency and fairness" with his gestures after the game, which Inter won 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico as part of its unprecedented treble last season.

Also Thursday, the federation fined both Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini and the Sicilian club €15,000 ($21,000) each for insulting the refereeing establishment after a 2-1 win at Fiorentina earlier this month.
