Inter v Rubin Kazan preview

Inter Milan midfielder Ricardo Alvarez is paying little attention to criticism of the team ahead of their Europa League clash with Rubin Kazan.

Alvarez is back in the fold at the San Siro after missing a large part of last season through injury, but has hardly been a good luck charm this season, with the Nerrazurri yet to win on home soil so far in any competition.

But the 24-year-old is viewing the situation in a different light after his fitness troubles.

"We know we are an important team and one that is always under the magnifying glass. But we have to do our work and respond on the pitch without listening to the criticism," the former Velez Sarsfield man said.

"But I'm very happy with my return, now I just have to keep going like this.

"It was perhaps the most difficult period of my career. I was out for a long time and far away from my family, but here I also found people who gave me a lot of help in recovering and getting back on the pitch."

On Thursday night, Alvarez and his team-mates will run in to a Rubin Kazan side who are not exactly enjoying a frutiful league campaign.

They are currently eighth in the Russian Premier League and have lost their last two games, the most recent of which was against Lokomotiv Moscow.

The last time the two sides met in European competition was in the 2009/10 Champions League when Inter went on to lift the trophy.
