Inter Milan have confirmed they have amicably terminated the contract of Brazilian coach Leonardo.

Leonardo, who had one year left in his contract with Inter, is set to take over the sporting director's role at Paris St Germain.

A statement from Inter read: "After six intense months and a Coppa Italia won together, Inter and Leonardo have terminated the Brazilian's contract on friendly terms.

"Everyone at Inter continues to have the utmost esteem for a person capable of repeatedly taking on new challenges.

"President Massimo Moratti and everyone at the club thank him for what has been achieved together and wish him the very best of luck for the next stage of his career.''

Leonardo joined Inter in December just six month after parting company with AC Milan.

He led the Nerazzurri to finish runners-up in Serie A and win the Coppa Italia.

Inter appointed former Genoa tactician Gian Piero Gasperini as Leonardo's replacement last week.
