The 23-year-old Shawcross has been called up for international duty on a couple of occasions but has yet to get on the pitch. For the squad against France, Capello selected the likes of Manchester United's Chris Smalling and Manchester City's Joleon Lescott, neither of whom have played as much first-team football this season as Shawcross. "I think everyone was a bit surprised," Germany international Huth told The Sentinel. "There were a few random choices. It is none of my business, but I think Ryan is a class act and a class player. "Given time and the chances, he will probably play for England."
