Hungary tops San Marino 8-0 in Euro 2012 qualifier
Three goals from Adam Szalai helped Hungary to an 8-0 romp over San Marino in Friday's 2012 European Championship qualifier.
Szalai and Gergely Rudolf each scored twice by the 27th minute, providing Hungary with a comfortable early advantage after recent struggles against even supposedly weaker opponents.
Szalai completed his hat trick in the 48th, easily beating San Marino goalkeeper Aldo Simoncini after a pass from Balazs Dszudszak five meters (yards) from the goal.
Vladimir Koman scored Hungary's sixth goal in the 60th off a pass from Rudolf, rolling in the ball from 13 meters (yards). A last-minute goal by Dzsudzsak and Zoltan Gera's penalty in injury time rounded out the rout for Hungary.
Hungary next plays in Finland on Tuesday, when San Marino hosts Moldova. Sweden leads Group E on goal difference over the Netherlands, with both teams on 6 points from two matches. Hungary is third, also with 6 points, but three matches played while San Marino is last with no points from three games.
