Aston Villa says manager Gerard Houllier will be leave the hospital within the next ''three to four days'' after being admitted last week with chest pains.

Club doctor Mark Waller tells the Villa website that tests show Houllier's heart is ''working perfectly.'' Waller says the medical team is ''extremely encouraged by Gerard's improvement over the past six days.''

Houllier, who had open heart surgery in 2001 while manager of Liverpool, was taken to a Birmingham hospital last Wednesday.

The 63-year-old Frenchman says he has received messages of support and says ''the reaction of people throughout the world of football'' has been ''overwhelming.''
