The Nigeria international has finally put an end to the speculation surrounding his future by signing an improved three-year contract with the Baggies. West Brom moved to tie him down after a number of their Premier League rivals expressed an interest in the forward. Having rewarded him for a fine debut season in England last term, they are now expecting him to deliver the results on the field. Hodgson believes the Baggies will get a return on their investment, with Odemwingie expected to strike up a formidable partnership with summer signing Shane Long. The Baggies boss said: "We're hoping Peter stays fit, that he gels with Shane Long and scores lots of goals again. "That's what we renewed his contract for and why we were so anxious to keep him. "I regard Odemwingie as a starting player who should be one of our important team members, and we have rewarded him accordingly. "It's up to him to get out on the field and prove that's the player he is."
