Hodgson has choice to make
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has a captaincy dilemma to sort out ahead of the Europa League clash against Steaua Bucharest.
Captain Steven Gerrard and vice-captain Jamie Carragher are both sidelined at present, meaning Hodgson will need to put his trust in a new face ahead of the tricky trip to Romania.
Goalkeeper Pepe Reina and defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos are on the top of Hodgson's list of candidates, with the stand-in skipper likely to keep the armband for the next three matches until Gerrard returns.
"I'll have to give it some thought but there are two possibilities," Hodgson told The Liverpool Daily Post.
"Pepe Reina is one, and in some ways he's the obvious choice, but there's also Soto Kyrgiakos, who's going to start on Thursday.
"You choose someone with a good track record at the club who's been here for a number of years, and someone you know will have the right attitude that could possibly rub off on the other players."
