Celtic says defender Andreas Hinkel will be out of action for up to nine months after injuring his right knee in training.
The Scottish club said Thursday the 28-year-old Germany international required surgery after scans confirmed he had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.
Hinkel, who joined Celtic from Spanish side Sevilla in 2008, is
set to be sidelined for the rest of the season, which only began in
Scotland last weekend.
