Higuain focused on snatching title
Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain insists Real Madrid can still win
the Primera Division after closing the gap on rivals Barcelona.
Barca completed the double over their title rivals with a 2-0
victory at the Bernabeu a little over a week ago to move three
points clear at the top of La Liga.
However, the Catalan side could only draw 0-0 with Espanyol
at the weekend, leaving the door open for Real who completed a 2-0
victory over Valencia to draw within a point of the leaders with
five games left.
Higuain is convinced Real can overtake Barca and claim the
title after a season in which they fell below expectations in the
Champions League, where they were went out in the first knockout
stage to Lyon, as well as the Copa del Rey.
Next up Madrid face Real Zaragoza, and Higuain said: "We can
win the league title. This team has a lot of faith in itself. The
match in Zaragoza will be very difficult. They fight to avoid
relegation and we fight to win the title.
"We know 98 points are a hell of a lot and taking that many
by season's end would be incredible. I think we are having a great
campaign; we've won many consecutive games.
"We always create many chances on goal and we have a solid
defence. We have taken an incredible number of points already. The
coach was right in saying whomever wins the league title in the end
will truly deserve it."
