Hoilett scored a fine individual strike to add to Gabriel Tamas' own goal as Rovers claimed victory. "It means a lot, I've been waiting for it for a long time," Hoilett said on Sky Sports 1. "I just wanted to get my foot through it and get it into the back of the net." Rovers keeper Paul Robinson helped preserve his side's two-goal lead in the second half with a string of saves. He said: "We knew it was going to be a difficult game. They did well second half but thankfully we rode the storm and managed to get the three points." But he said he was not willing to reconsider his decision to retire from international football. "No not yet," he said. West Brom boss Roberto di Matteo felt his side should have had a definite penalty when Peter Odemwingie was brought down by Jermaine Jones, only for referee Mark Clattenburg to inexplicably award a free-kick instead. "Yeah absolutely, it was quite clear from where I was standing that the foul was inside," the Italian told Sky Sports 1. He added: "Before we conceded the first I thought we defended quite well, we were quite solid. At 1-0 down at half-time we were still in the game, but the way we came out in the second half was very disappointing." Blackburn moved up to seventh with the victory. Boss Steve Kean said: "We knew it was going to be a tough game but we really stuck at it today and I thought we were excellent." Kean also had words of praise for Robinson. "He was outstanding, absolutely outstanding," he said. "He's a top class goalie. He's really at the top of his game at the moment."
