Groves tips Carmichael to shine

Bournemouth boss Paul Groves is confident teenager Josh Carmichael will continue to impress after his early-season exploits.

Carmichael, who missed pre-season training with a knee injury, replaced Josh McQuoid 30 minutes from time and helped the Cherries pull level before George Bowerman scored a late winner for the Saddlers.

The 18-year-old Carmichael is highly-rated by the coaching staff at Dean Court.

"I know Josh, I've worked with him before and I'm well aware of his qualities and capabilities," Groves told the club's official website.

"He had to come through some adversity after he misplaced a couple of passes and some of the crowd went against him. But he's one of their own, he went to Poole Grammar School and might even have gone to school with some of the people on the terraces.

"But he showed great mental strength to come through that and was probably one of the most effective players in the last 20 minutes. That's the level of quality he has and I'm sure Josh is capable of going on and playing for this football club for many years to come."
