Gower lifts lid on Anfield agony

With the Swans' away date with Liverpool on Saturday heading towards a tame goalless draw, Gower was offered a late opportunity to snatch all three points. He blew his big chance, though, as he blazed high into the Kop from 12 yards out. In the end Brendan Rodgers' side were forced to settle for a share of the spoils and Gower has been left to reflect on what might have been. The 33-year-old, who has taken 10 years to get back to the Premier League after graduating through Tottenham's academy ranks, said: "Let's face it, how often am I going to get a chance like that at the Kop end, a chance to become a bit of a hero? "It was horrible really. I snatched at it and I reckon I'm going to be thinking about that for a long, long time. I'm devastated but must make sure I don't dwell on it. "I don't want it to distract from our performance. "We had belief already but this has bred even more belief - and none of us can wait to play Manchester United at home in our next game. It's just a shame it's two weeks away. We're all counting down the hours."
