Goias one match from Copa Sud title
Modest club Goias, which has been demoted next season to Brazil's second division, is 90 minutes away from winning the Copa Sudamericana final.
Goias plays on Wednesday at Argentina's Independiente, nursing a 2-0 lead from last week's first leg in Brazil.
A draw or victory will be enough for Goias to claim its first major international title.
"This entire team has high hopes," Otacilio Neto, who scored both goals in the first leg, said on Tuesday in Buenos Aires. "We need to be calm, cautious and patient and bring the trophy home."
Independiente must win by three goals.
If the final is tied on aggregate goals, the clubs will face extra time and then penalties.
Independiente is known in South America as the "Rey de Copas" - King of Cups - having won the Copa Libertadores seven times, more than any other club. It's also twice won world club titles, and has 14 Argentine league trophies.
Independiente is having a terrible season in the 20-team Argentina Apertura, lodged in 17th place with only 14 points in 17 games. And it expects to have a difficult time against Goias, even playing at home. It will be without striker Andres Silvera, who was sent off in the first leg.
The Argentine side, however, is used to coming from behind, and did it in the second-leg semifinal to oust defending champion Liga de Quito.
"We're going to win this thing," Independiente coach Antonio Mohamed said. "History does not lie. This club has experienced lots of miracles, part of the club's legend."
The Copa Sudamericana champion advances to next year's Copa Libertadores.
