Gills duo transfer-listed
Championship side Birmingham have announced that they have agreed to sign right-back Neil Eardley on a three-year contract.
The Wales international will formally complete the move on July 1, when his current deal with Blackpool expires.
Eardley, 24, has represented Wales on 16 occasions, having previously played for his country at U17, U19 and U21 level.
Born in Llandudno, Eardley began his career at Oldham and made over 100 appearances for the Latics, before he was signed by Blackpool in August 2009.
He has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the Seasiders as well, featuring regularly during their Premier League campaign of 2010/11.
Eardley: Birmingham a big club
Eardley is excited about the move to Birmingham and said: "I'm over the moon.
"To be signing for a club of this stature is the next step in my career and I'm hoping to get some games under my belt for a very big club and kick on.
"The opportunity came about and there were discussions between myself and those at the club, and I was just glad that we could get something agreed. I would never have turned down an opportunity to be signing for such a big club.
"I know from my time at Blackpool with Barry Ferguson and Kevin Phillips how big a club Birmingham is. I've played at St. Andrew's myself and the fans take the roof off. Everybody I have spoken to only has praise for the club.
"(Birmingham boss) Lee Clark touched on a few things about me personally, what he would like to do next season, and where he'd like to take this football club. It just totally made my mind up. After those chats, it was an easy decision."
The Eagles defeated Watford 1-0 after extra-time in Monday's Championship play-off final to seal their return to English football's top flight.
Delaney has a year remaining on his existing contract but remains relaxed about his contract, and also about Palace's hopes of surviving in the Premier League.
The Irishman said: "People are going to say we are going to need to sign players, but I'll tell you what, team spirit will take you a hell of a long way.
"You look at the likes of the teams who have gone up, Swansea, Norwich, Southampton - they all went up and stayed up, and they didn't spend millions.
"They bought astutely and they kept the nucleus and the team spirit, which is what we have.
"What we are built on, to be honest with you, at Palace is that type of team spirit, that togetherness and the genuine friendship we have.
"We genuinely like each other. We wouldn't spend as much time as we do on and off the pitch - and believe me, we do spend a lot of time together off the pitch socialising and hanging out and going for dinner and whatever.
"If we can keep the basis of that and add to it, then the sky is the limit for us."
Palace's achievement is all the more special for Delaney, who started the season without a club after being released by Ipswich, and might have seen his career ended prematurely by a blood clot which formed in his leg during his time at Portman Road.
However, he has never allowed any of the setbacks he has suffered during his career to deflect him from his mission.
He said: "I have had a couple of injuries and a few other problems along the way, but it is just testament to perseverance, to be honest with you.
"If you just stick at it in the hope that some day, there will be a good day.
"There were some pretty low times there for me and I owe a lot to a lot of people who kept me going, family, a couple of good managers along the way, who keep you going and keep your head straight and keep you believing that there is quieter days out there.
"I am just a happy man and it is testament to perseverance, to sticking at it. If you stick at something long enough, you will get your rewards eventually."
Midfielder Lee, 26, made 35 appearances last season while 28-year-old striker Birchall played 15 times but failed to find the net.
Allen told the club's official website: "I spoke with Charlie Lee and Adam Birchall to let them know that they will be made available for transfer. Both are good players, both have been good professionals, both players are really good people and this is a tough decision for me."
Allen is looking to strengthen his newly-promoted squad ahead of their crack at League One next season.
"I have just returned from Dubai after two days of discussions with the chairman and things are moving along nicely," he added.
"We are in the middle of negotiations with several players and waiting for people to come back off holiday so that we can weigh up our options and make final decisions."
