The former Soviet republic of Georgia is bidding to host the European football championship in 2020.
Georgian football federation head Domenti Sinchinava said Tuesday that the country has sent its application to UEFA.
Sports Minister Lado Vardzelashvili said Georgia had considered submitting a bid to co-host the championships with Azerbaijan, but that the neighboring country decided to concentrate its efforts on bidding to hold the 2020 Olympics in its capital Baku.
The minister said stadiums suitable for the Euros already exist in the capital Tbilisi and in the cities of Gori, Kutaisi and Rustavi. In addition, he said, stadiums are under way in Zugdidi, Batumi and Lanchkhuti.
