Italian soccer club Inter Milan have appointed Giovanni Gardini as their chief football administrator.
Gardini joins from his role as managing director of Hellas Verona and will be responsible for managing the Serie A side's relationships with sporting institutions, as well as supervising the club's player transfer and soccer-related administration. He will begin in his new position on 1st March and report directly to Inter chief executive Michael Bolingbroke.
Before moving to Verona, Gardini held various roles at Livorno, Treviso, Lazio and Padova.
"I am pleased to welcome Giovanni to Inter as our new chief football administrator," said Bollingbroke. "He brings with him a great deal of experience on the sports administration side, together with a deep understanding of Serie A having previously worked at a number of Italian clubs. I am looking forward to working closely with Giovanni as we continue strengthening the sports administration of Inter, a key part of our overall plan for the club as we move forward."
Gardini added: "I would like to thank President Erick Thohir for the opportunity he has offered me. I am honoured to be joining a great club like Inter and I look forward to working alongside CEO Michael Bolingbroke and the management team. I am ready to put my experience and contacts in the world of football to good use, both in Italy and beyond."
