Lyon coach Remi Garde is demanding improvement as his side return to Ligue 1 action at Lorient this weekend.
Garde was furious after his team needed a last-gasp Gueida Fofana header to beat Hapoel Kiryat Shmona 4-3 in Israel in the Europa League on Thursday after throwing away a 3-1 half-time lead.
That result came after Les Gones slipped to third in the French league after a 2-0 home loss to Bordeaux last weekend.
Garde told reporters: "The level of play was too low in terms of individual performances.
"I will not change my opinion, although I am calmer now. Basically, it was not good enough.
"Apart from the 30 minutes between being 1-0 down and 3-1 up, it was below standard.
"But we can take some positives. We have six points and we won.
"Against Bordeaux it was the opposite - we played well but we lost."
After travelling home, Lyon will face a tough task at the Stade du Moustoir against an unbeaten Lorient side just a point behind them in fourth ahead of this weekend's games.
Les Merlus have won three and drawn four of their opening seven fixtures.
Garde said: "We need to recover well. A match at Lorient is always difficult.
"We will need to adapt quickly with short a short turnaround period.
"Lorient do not change much from year to year. They are a good team that are well organised, hard to find fault with."
Lorient boss Christian Gourcuff, who will have dangerman Alain Traore back after missing two league games, has played down the significance of Lyon's travelling.
Gourcuff said: "It is not an advantage they played in Israel on Thursday.
"These are players who have the ability to play games every three days. For us it would probably be difficult."
