Arsenal defender William Gallas is confident he will be fit to play for France in this summer's World Cup finals in South Africa.

Gallas was carrying a calf injury when he was risked for the Gunners' Champions League quarter-final first-leg with Barcelona.

The gamble did not pay off for Arsenal or Gallas as he was forced off at half-time, and he was ruled out for the rest of the season.

Gallas is now confident he will be on the plane to South Africa with Les Bleus.

The 32-year-old also refuses to blame Arsenal for the injury, as he insists he wanted to play against Barca.

"I wanted to play in that match, because I am a competitor," he told CanalPlus.

"I wanted to play against the best players and I had agreement from the medical staff and fitness coach.

"Now my objective is not to suffer any relapse and I am confident.

"If you are not confident, you can forget about the World Cup."
