Furious Marseille supporters call for president's resignation
MARSEILLE, France -- With their team facing an uncertain future, angry Marseille supporters have expressed their frustration by tagging walls close to the club's training facilities.
The offensive graffiti calling for Marseille president Vincent Labrune's resignation were drawn late Thursday, hours after Marseille announced the signing of the relatively unknown France Under-21 midfielder Georges-Kevin Nkoudou.
The 20-year-old Nkoudou is the first signing at the southern club since the transfer window opened, as Marseille struggles to attract big names after finishing fourth in the league, and missing out on a Champions League spot.
Players including Andre-Pierre Gignac and Andre Ayew have also left the club, and Marseille needs to clarify the future of coach Marcelo Bielsa, who is waiting to see if he will be confirmed in his job for next season.
