Friedel targets top-four finish
The Croatia international was at the subject of a summer long transfer chase by Chelsea who had several bids rejected, the last being for a reported £40million. Indeed, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had maintained throughout the summer the 25-year-old would not be allowed to leave the club. Harry Redknapp hinted the controversy around his talented playmaker had perhaps hindered his teams' start to the season which began with two defeats to Manchester United and City. Yet, on Saturday, he was back to pulling the strings as he propelled Tottenham to a 2-0 win over Wolves. And Friedel, who arrived from Aston Villa on a two-year deal this summer, feels with his new team-mate now back on his game, Spurs can finish in the top-four again. "Can we qualify for the Champions League? Absolutely," he said. "The squad we have is exceptional. There was so much speculation in the transfer window that we needed to get that to one side and hopefully now we can just focus and win football matches."
