Andre-Pierre Gignac scored twice in Marseille's 2-1 win over Sochaux on Saturday, helping his team snatch second place in the French league.
Marseille trails leader Lille by three points. Rennes could leapfrog Marseille into second place if it beats Nice on Sunday.
Ideye Brown headed in a cross from Maxime Josse to give Sochaux the lead in the 43rd minute and raise his tally to 10 goals this season.
But Gignac equalized with a curling shot on the stroke of halftime before volleying home a cross from Loic Remy in the 70th for the winning goal.
Gignac might have turned a corner as he had only three league goals before this match.
The Marseille forward seemed to crumble under the weight of expectations when Mamadou Niang departed last year for Fenerbahce. Niang was the top striker in the league last season.

Lyon took the lead with an own-goal from Moustapha Bayal on a corner kick from Gourcuff. A header from Lyon centerback Cris bounced off Bayal and into the net in the 40th.
