Former Tottenham and England midfielder Ralph Coates has died following a stroke. He was 64.
Coates played four times for England but was best known for scoring the winning goal in Tottenham's 1-0 win over Norwich in the 1973 League Cup final.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says ''he was just a great guy, one of life's nice fellows.''
Coates started his career with Burnley before joining Tottenham for 190,000 pounds ($296,000) in 1971. He helped Spurs win the UEFA Cup in his first season and played for the north London club for seven years before switching to Leyton Orient.
