Former federation official receives prison term
Slovakia's Supreme Court has upheld a lower court ruling that sentenced a former deputy head of Slovakia's football federation to prison for bribery.
Vladimir Wanke was convicted in April 2009 of four cases of accepting bribes to speed up transfers of players between 2002-'07 and sentenced to three years and four months in prison. Wanke was also ordered to pay a fine of ?2,000 ($2,630).
Wanke, who denied any wrongdoing, appealed the verdict.
Supreme Court spokesman Michal Jurci said the court upheld the previous ruling, adding that Monday's verdict is final.
