First home victory for Bologna
Bologna picked up a belated first home win of the Serie A season with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Atalanta.
German Denis put the visitors ahead in the seventh minute but Marco Di Vaio equalised from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time.
Gaston Ramirez then put the home side in front early in the second half before former Atalanta defender Simone Loria rounded off the scoring with 22 minutes remaining.
The result marked Atalanta's second defeat of the campaign and left the Bergamaschi in 15th place, one point behind a Bologna side who celebrated their first win at home in eight months.
Atalanta, full of confidence after their 1-1 midweek draw against Inter Milan, took an early lead.
Denis turned inside his marker in the area and struck the ball past Bologna goalkeeper Jean Francois Gillet to silence the fans at the Renato Dall' Ara stadium.
In the 14th minute, Maximiliano Gonzalez brought a fine save from Gillet with a powerful shot from the edge of the area.
Atalanta had a great chance to double their lead shortly after the half-hour mark. Giacomo Bonaventura played a one-two with Denis before firing towards the far post, only for his effort to be kept out by Gillet.
Atalanta shot themselves in the foot shortly after, though, when Daniele Capelli brought down Ramirez inside the area.
The referee pointed to the spot and Di Vaio coolly struck towards the top left-hand corner to beat Atalanta goalkeeper Andrea Consigli.
Bologna grew in confidence and went in front three minutes into the second half. Panagiotis Kone fed Ramirez inside the area and his right-footed strike beat Consigli.
Atalanta reacted and almost equalised before the hour mark, but Gillet made a crucial save to clear Denis' 12-yard effort.
Loria then put the result beyond doubt when he got his head behind Ramirez's cross to beat Consigli.
With five minutes remaining, an unmarked Robert Acquafresca wasted a chance to add a fourth, shooting wide from the heart of the area.
