The Japan Football Association says FIFA will donate about $6 million in aid to J-League clubs affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
Several clubs, whose stadiums were damaged by the magnitude-9.0 earthquake and ensuing tsunami, will receive $4.5 million for repairs, JFA president Junji Ogura said Thursday.
The remaining $1.5 million will go toward building new football training centers in Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima prefectures.
FIFA President Sepp Blatter had promised to provide aid when he came to Japan in May to meet with JFA officials and Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan.
