Feeney back for the fight

Striker Warren Feeney has returned from injury ahead of schedule and insists he is ready to help Plymouth's battle against relegation.

Feeney, 32, who suffered a broken bone in his ankle in January, returned to training sooner than expected this week after undergoing an operation to repair the damage.

Argyle are two points clear of the drop zone with seven games to go and the player says he is up for the fight.

"I'm a wee bit ahead of schedule to be honest," he told the Western Morning News. "I've joined in with the boys [in training] over the last couple of days. I've worked hard in the gym, as much as I could, but once you get out on that pitch it's different.

"Yes, I probably do need match practice, but there are seven games to go and in the position we're in I'm a big believer that's when you have got to dig in, if called upon.

"I'm never going to rule myself out. I will be the first one to put my hand up. You've just got to get through these things and with a month left I think it needs character from us all. I would definitely be up for the fight."
