FC Seoul closed in on a spot in the Asian Champions League final by beating Iranian club Esteghlal 2-0 Wednesday in the first leg of the semifinals.

Dejan Damjanovic put the Korean team ahead in the 38th minute from close range after Esteghlal goalkeeper Mahdi Rahmati had made a diving save from Mauricio Molina's header. Go Yo-han extended the lead early in the second half, scoring with a low shot from inside the area.

The second leg is scheduled for Oct. 2 in Tehran. The winner will face either Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol or Chinese team Guangzhou Evergrande in the final.
