FA launch probe into keeper carnage
The Football Association has launched an investigation after a goalkeeper was knocked to the ground by a pitch invader amid chaotic scenes during a second-tier League Championship match between Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds.
Chris Kirkland, a former England international who plays for Wednesday, required medical treatment after being shoved in the face by one of many Leeds fans who stormed the pitch Friday after their team equalized late in the second half.
The FA says Saturday it ''condemns the scenes ... We would call for the authorities to identify and bring before the courts anyone who was involved in any form of criminal disorder.''
The fan returned to the away end after assaulting Kirkland. The police are working with both clubs to find the fans responsible for the crowd trouble.
