Lawyer Selby Hwacha said Thursday that Henrietta Rushwaya has been charged with corruption, bribery and match-fixing.

Rushwaya is accused of working with an Asian betting syndicate to organize several fixed invitational matches for the Zimbabwe national team in the Far East between 2007 and 2009.

The scandal resulted in more than 80 players being suspended by the Zimbabwean FA.

Rushwaya was fired for mismanagement and insubordination in October 2010.

Hwacha told The Associated Press that there is ''no basis for the allegations'' against Rushwaya.
