The striker put his side in the ascendancy with two goals inside the opening 19 minutes before substitute Ryan Flynn wrapped up the win. Stephen Quinn's cross from the left was missed by Richard Creswell but Welshman Evans was in the right place to tuck home the loose ball. After Lee Williamson saw his shot well saved by Ryan Clarke, the Blades doubled their advantage when Evans rifled in a superb free kick. Oxford boss Chris Wilder, a former fans' favourite as a player at Bramall Lane, brought on top-scorer James Constable at half-time and his header almost put the Us back in it, but Steve Simonsen denied him. The killer goal came when Clarke flapped at a long ball and Flynn drilled in his first goal for the club after 71 minutes.
