Europe not in Streich thoughs
Freiburg coach Christian Streich is refusing to get carried away by his side's unexpected rise into the Bundesliga's European spots, insisting his only concern remains maintaining their top-flight status.
Sunday's 1-0 win at Fortuna Dusseldorf left Freiburg in fifth place and ahead of the likes of Schalke, Werder Bremen, Hamburg and Hannover, but Streich is still not thinking about the prospect of European football next season.
"We have got to be realistic," he said. "If we get to play another year in the Bundesliga, then we are delighted, but anything else is a joke.
"I am not concerned by it (Europe); it doesn't interest me at all."
Fortuna coach Norbert Meier was disappointed with the way his side were beaten.
An 87th-minute goal from Pavel Krmas broke their resistance and saw them slip to within eight points of the bottom three.
"We were getting more and more into the game in the second half, and we were creating chances ourselves, and then we concede such a goal," he said.
"That is extremely frustrating. You cannot concede goals like that."
