Hector Hugo Eugui of Uruguay will take over as coach of Mexican club Toluca next season.
The 64-year-old veteran coach was hired Tuesday after Sergio Lugo was sacked last week for failing to guide Toluca to the end-of-season playoffs.
The club says Eugui fulfills the profile it was looking for in a new coach, highlighting his ''experience, character and knowledge of Mexican football''.
Eugui played for Toluca in the 1970s, winning the league tournament in 1974-75. He also coached the team briefly in 2001.

His long career as a coach in Mexico began in 1981-82 when he managed Monterrey. He has since been in control at several clubs, including most recently Puebla.
