Estudiantes climbs after beating All Boys

Struggling Estudiantes enjoyed a resounding 3-0 win over All Boys in the Argentinian Apertura.

Mariano Gonzalez, Gaston Fernandez and Mauro Boselli scored the goals in the success which lifts Estudiantes from a share of second-bottom in the table up to 15th in the 20-team league.

Gonzalez drilled in a thrilling opening goal in the 30th minute, firing high into the top left corner from 25 yards after a free-kick from the right flank was played short into his path.

Fernandez flicked in the second after a slick team move three minutes later, and Boselli showed an assured touch after a deflected cross found him for the third goal in the 61st minute.

Estudiantes now stands two points behind All Boys, who is 14th.

Argentinos Juniors is a point better off than All Boys after a 2-1 win over Arsenal Sarandi, a match which both teams finished a player short.

Adrian Gonzalez put Arsenal ahead after 18 minutes, but Santiago Salcedo netted a 31st-minute leveller.

Federico Pistone was the first to see red, dismissed after 67 minutes to leave Argentinos Juniors depleted, but Arsenal also lost Lisandro Lopez with three minutes remaining.

Salcedo had the final say with a 90th-minute winner.
