LONDON --

The English Premier League chairman is supporting Britain remaining in the European Union ahead of Thursday's referendum.

Richard Scudamore runs the world's richest domestic soccer competition, featuring players from across the globe. Television rights for the next three seasons have generated 8.3 billion pounds ($12 billion), with more than 3 billion pounds coming from overseas broadcasters.

Scudamore says the ''reason we have concluded that `remain' is best is because of our outlook.''

On the BBC, Scudamore said the league was ''a global export, we look outwards. We are open to the world and we do business all around the world.''

Robert Oxley of the campaign to leave the EU says the 28-nation bloc's rules ''hurt both our ability to develop home-grown talent and restrict access to the global talent pool.''
