An English youth academy player has been charged with the stabbing murder of a 15-year-old girl last weekend.

Andrew Hall, 18, who plays for Premier League team Stoke's academy, is accused of killing Megan-Leigh Peat on Saturday at a house in Bedfordshire, England.

Hall was taken to a hospital after the incident to receive treatment for injuries while being kept under guard until he was able to be interviewed. He was charged with murder on Wednesday.

Police say Hall is being held in custody and will appear at Luton magistrates court on Thursday.
