Notts County set up an FA Cup meeting with Premier League side Sunderland with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth in the second round on Tuesday night.
The Magpies established a 3-0 lead before the Cherries' late consolation, with goals by Krystian Pearce (18), Lee Hughes (35) and Warren Cummings' own goal in first-half injury-time.
Steve Fletcher headed an 84th-minute goal but it was too late for the visitors.
Elsewhere, Andrew Williams put Yeovil ahead and Edward Upson made it 2-0 but Hartlepool roared back through Antony Sweeney's hat-trick and Ritchie Humphreys' goal to take an impressive 4-2 win.
They now travel to Watford in the third round.
Lincoln v Hereford was postponed.
