LONDON (AP) Second-tier club Huddersfield says it has appointed former United States international David Wagner as coach.
The 44-year-old Wagner replaces Chris Powell, who was fired on Wednesday after winning only three of 15 league games this season.
Wagner left his post as Borussia Dortmund reserve team coach earlier this week following a difficult start to the season. The under-23 side is 15th in Germany's fourth tier, two points clear of the relegation zone following a 1-0 home loss to TuS Erndtebruck on Saturday.
Wagner, who made eight appearances for the United States, secured promotion to Germany's third tier in his first year with the Dortmund youngsters, although they were relegated last season.
