England players will wear a poppy to honor Britain's war dead on their black armbands when they play world champion Spain on Saturday after FIFA agreed to the compromise.
FIFA had turned down the Football Association's request for players to wear shirts embroidered with a red poppy as a mark of remembrance.
British Prime Minister David Cameron and Prince William both wrote to FIFA to support the FA before the bodies reached a compromise.
