Marvin Elliott is confident he will be available for Bristol City's crunch Championship clash against Derby on Friday despite having spent this week playing football on the other side of the world.

The midfielder is set to face Costa Rica in San Jose on Tuesday night for Jamaica and is not expected to arrive back in Bristol until Thursday after a long flight.

But Elliott is no stranger to the trip having lined up for the Robins against Nottingham Forest in February just a day after arriving home.

"I'm getting used to all the travelling and I don't see it as a problem," Elliott told the Bristol Evening Post.

"I did it last month when I went to Mexico, played at altitude and then travelled all the way back and it did not really bother me. I played in the Nottingham Forest game and felt fit as a fiddle.

"The times and distances are similar this time, but the prospect of not playing against Derby has not even entered my mind.

"Obviously, it is down to the manager to pick the team as he sees fit. But I'm sure I'll be back and ready to play if he needs me."
