The National Football Confederation says Brazil's planned friendly match against Egypt in Cairo has been canceled because of security concerns.

A statement posted on the confederation's website on Tuesday says Egypt requested the cancellation of the game, which was scheduled to be played Sept. 6.

The statement says the national squad will instead play a friendly against an as yet unnamed team.

Earlier this month, the confederation said Brazil and Argentina will face each other in a two-game mini-tournament in September.
