Chris Eagles has hit out at rumours suggesting he is unhappy at Bolton Wanderers and dismissed speculation he is set to join Cardiff City.
The former Manchester United youngster has been the subject of press speculation after off-field problems and a dip in form reportedly made him a target of the club's 'boo-boys'.
But he insists that those problems are in the past and says he is fully focused on trying to secure Bolton a place in the play-offs.
He said in the Manchester Evening News: "People like to write these stories but it's just a shame when they see you face to face and they say nothing, but behind your back they like to talk about you.
"It's upsetting, to be honest, because these people don't know you but they have an opinion of you - but then I've had that all my life since I went to United when I was 14.
"That's part and parcel of the job I'm in but people who know me know I'm 100 per cent for the cause. I had a few problems a few months ago with family but right now I'm happy.
"I'm a Bolton player and I love it here. I can't make it any clearer. I don't know why anyone would write that I'm unhappy."
Eagles scored his 10th goal of the season in last Saturday's 2-1 win over Middlesbrough at the Reebok, and he denied reports of any sour relations with Wanderers fans.
"The fans have been brilliant and I can't thank them enough on a personal front. Hopefully the way I'm playing will prove to them that I'm not going anywhere."
Bolton go to Cardiff on Saturday, hoping to cement their place in the play-offs and Eagles says he would relish the chance to run out at Wembley.
"I don't want to look at the table because we just have to concentrate on winning.
"We'll see where we get. If it's good enough then we'll crack on with the play-offs.
"You can't beat playing at Wembley and that's where we want to be, of course."
