Dynamo beats Miami FC 1-0 in US Open Cup

Second-half substitute Lovel Palmer scored in the 80th minute to lead Houston to a 1-0 win over Miami FC Tuesday night in the third round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

Houston of the MLS advances to the quarterfinals for the second straight year where it will face the winner of the Chivas USA and Austin Aztex game July 6.

Palmer, who entered in the 46th minute, scored off a pass from Dominic Oduro in the middle of the box. Palmer took three steps into the center and hit a bullet into the right net from 16 yards out.

Miami's Caleb Patterson-Sewell stopped Richard Mulrooney's penalty kick in the 48th minute.

Miami, which plays in the USSF2, played a man down after JP Rodrigues earned his second yellow card in the 83rd minute.
