Siem de Jong and Mounir El Hamdaoui scored Sunday to help Ajax beat Feyenoord 2-1 and return to the top of the Dutch League.

De Jong took advantage of a defensive error in the 40th and El Hamdaoui doubled the lead off a Luis Suarez pass 10 minutes after the break. Defender Andre Bahia replied for Feyenoord, heading home from a corner 10 minutes from time.

FC Groningen briefly led the league standings after defeating Excelsior Rotterdam 2-0 Saturday. Ajax leads with 16 points after six rounds, two more than Groningen and PSV, which was held to a 0-0 draw at Roda JC.

Defending champion FC Twente stayed unbeaten after a 0-0 draw at Heracles Almelo.

Elsewhere, Jonathas' 38th minute goal gave AZ Alkmaar a 1-0 win over NEC Nijmegen while Ricky van Wolfswinkel scored twice, including a 27th minute penalty, as FC Utrecht beat VVV Venlo 3-2.

Nanan Asare got the winning goal in the 84th after Ruus Boymans had scored twice for VVV.

De Graafschap secured a 3-2 win over Heerenveen Friday while on Saturday it was: FC Groningen 2, Excelsior Rotterdam 0; Vitesse Arnhem 0, NAC Breda 0 and Willem II 2, ADO The Hague 4.
