Dutch league leader FC Twente could only manage a 0-0 draw with sixth-place FC Utrecht on Sunday, while Ajax was held 1-1 at NAC Breda.

Twente's draw in Utrecht leaves it on 48 points, three clear of second-place PSV Eindhoven, which can take over top spot on goal difference if its beats Roda JC on Tuesday. Ajax is third on 39 points.

Ellery Cairo pounced on a rebound to put NAC ahead in the 19th minute, but Ajax leveled in the 37th with a goal from Rasmus Lindgren.

In Sunday's other match, NEC Nijmegen fought back from being 1-0 down after five minutes to beat Vitesse Arnhem 2-1 and rise two places in the standings after starting the day second from last.

Vitesse took the lead through a Lasse Nilsson penalty, but Saidi Ntibazonkiza equalized on 27 minutes and Ramon Zomer headed the winner in the 56th.

Sunday's matches were from the Eredivisie's 18th round, which was interrupted by snow postponements before the winter break started last month.
