Borussia Dortmund will be without Mats Hummels until January and Marcel Schmelzer for three weeks as a result of injuries the pair picked up in Tuesday's international friendly win for Germany over England.

Hummels lasted less than 20 minutes of the game after entering the field as a half-time substitute before limping off again, replaced by Schalke's Benedikt Howedes.

A scan has confirmed that he has pulled ligaments around his heel bone and will miss the rest of 2013, including Saturday's top-of-the-table Bundesliga clash with his former club Bayern Munich.

Schmelzer will also miss that game, although is likely to be back before Christmas with a calf strain ruling him out. Both will also miss Dortmund's pivotal Champions League clash with Napoli next week, the club have announced via their website.
