Borussia Dortmund have told Manchester United they have no interest in selling them reported target Shinji Kagawa.
Kagawa joined the Bundesliga leaders in the summer for what now seems like a paltry sum of 350,000 euros from Japanese second-division side Cerezo Osaka, and he has made a major contribution to the Westphalians' successful season so far.
He has scored eight goals in 17 games for his new club and attracted a great deal of interest in his first six months in Europe, but Dortmund's general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke insists he is staying put.
"They (the clubs interested) can stop all of their efforts - Kagawa will not be sold, definitely not," he told Germany's Stern magazine.
Watzke added that his club's financial problems are now a thing of the past and that they are no longer under any pressure to sell players to balance the books.
Dortmund were on the brink of extinction at the start of the millennium after heavy investment failed to deliver on-field success, but the years of recovery and frugal saving are now over.
"We are now capable of really keeping hold of the players we want to keep," he said.
"There is no sign of any changes being made to our squad."
That also means that Lucas Barrios, another player attracting a lot of interest, is not on the market either.
