Turkish club Fenerbahce says it has reached an agreement to transfer Uruguay captain Diego Lugano to Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG has spent more than $116 million this summer in a bid to contend for the French league title and be more competitive on the European stage. PSG has yet to confirm the deal.

Lugano led Uruguay to a record 15th Copa America title in July and to a World Cup semifinal last year.

Fenerbahce is embroiled in a match-fixing scandal and risks losing its Turkish league title having already been withdrawn from UEFA Champions League by the Turkish Football Federation.
